Interview tips beyond the usual

Sincere flattery might get you somewhere

Posted by Stephanie on July 28, 2011

Instead of showing up to let everyone know how great you are, show up to find out how great everyone else is.”

These words come from a recent post from Simon Sinek at  inspireme@startwithwhy.com. It got me thinking.

Rather than show up at an interview ready to “toot” or even “blast” your own horn, why not come prepared to find genuine and heartfelt reasons to find something to compliment in your interviewer(s) sharing, or in the company’s mission and values or recent accomplishments?

Don’t force this, don’t make it gratuitous. It must be genuine to be real, and authentic to your values and ethics. But I do believe that this is worth some thought and a try. Let me know if you try it, and what the response was.
